Email Marketing - Will They Read What You Say?

In amongst the hoards of email messages your customers and prospects receive on a daily basis, there are those that stand out as ones that are very likely to be read.

What are they?

They're the ones that are personal to the recipient. If I am your friend, or your colleague, your parent or your boss and I send you an email that is a direct one on one communication, how likely are you to open it? Unless you delete it by mistake, I'd say you're almost certain to open it.

You'll be slightly less likely to read an email from someone you know, that has been sent to numerous people such as a chain email or one that has obviously been forwarded by a number of people before it reaches you. Further down the list of email priorities are those from people you know of, but have not met, such as companies you've asked to receive communications from, and lists that you've subscribed to, such as a headline roundup sent by a newspaper.

Of course, right at the bottom of the list is spam, which most savvy computer users can now recognise without opening. They see that it's from someone they don't know, and has a subject title that is completely irrelevant to them. Of course the spammers have long since been wise to this and that's why you'll receive something that says "Just one more thing..." in its subject header only to try to sell you cheap Viagra when you click onto it.

Familiarity

The more familiar we are with the person who has sent us an email, the more likely we are to open it. We human beings take comfort in familiarity. Things and people that are familiar to us make us feel safe; McDonalds, soap operas, brands, and favourite items of clothing - are some such examples. A successful email marketing campaign creates an air of familiarity between you, your customers and prospects, so how do you go about achieving this status?

Personalising Emails

People are getting wise to their name being used in a subject header, so it's important to make the rest of the subject line both interesting and relevant to them.

The best way to achieve this is to ask yourself what it is that they would want to read, and tailor your communication around the answer to this one question. Once you've mastered this and people have opened your email, don't disappoint them. Deliver. Work on building rapport with the people on your list. Remember that they are individuals who, if you give them something that they value, will trust you and grow to like you/your brand/your communications -but this takes time to establish and has to be done skillfully.

Remember that relevance and persistence are vital: the longer someone stays on your mailing list, the more likely they are to come to you when they are ready to buy.

The Stormy Relationship Between Beethoven and His Young Nephew Karl

It can be stated with relative ease that Beethoven's life was not easy. Throughout all his troubles however one situation in particular stands out, his relationship with his nephew Karl. It was the source of much misery, wasted energy and lost time.

Beethoven's relationship with his brothers, of which he had 2, was never a peaceful one. When Beethoven's brother, Kaspar, died in 1815 Ludwig took on the responsibility of taking full time care of his young nephew Karl. A number of bitter custody battles ensued with the boys natural mother however Beethoven was successful in the courts to secure the full and exclusive rights for the guardianship of Karl.

Beethoven poured many of this future hopes, dreams and plans into making the boy something he was simply not. It is said that Karl had a difficult personality anyway and there was always a lot of friction between the two causing them both much pain and heartache. It was a case of two immovable objects colliding.

The combined pressure of failing to live up to his uncles grand expectations along with gambling debts he couldn't pay led Karl to attempt suicide at the age of 22 by shooting himself. He survived but the relationship between them had been damaged forever. In the saddest of endings Karl joined the Austrian army and it was the last time Beethoven would ever see him.

There is in fact a famous book which demonstrates there relationship living in a house together. The book is entirely fact and made up of the scrapbooks Karl would write on in order to communicate with his deaf uncle. They reveal a stormy relationship but also show genuine moments of loving care and consideration plus no small amount of humor. For much of the time that Beethoven devoted himself to bringing up Karl he composed nothing, not a single note for years.

Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is a holiday when children honor their mothers with cards, gifts and flowers. In many countries, such as Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia and the US, people celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May while many other countries of the world celebrate their own Mother’s day at different times through out the year.

One of the best ways to celebrate Mother’s Day is to give your mom the day off. Let her relax with the rest of the family doing all the housework. Usually, dad and the kids will let mom sleep late that morning as they go into the kitchen to prepare her favourite breakfast. Never forget to place a vase with a single flower on the table beside the food. The kids can pick up the flower from the garden or buy one from the shop. Arrange everything nicely before mom wakes up. Some families will carry the food and mom’s favourite sections from the newspaper to her bedroom so that mom can have breakfast in bed. Presents and cards from the kids can be handed to mom by themselves or just placed on the dining table.

After breakfast, go anywhere mom likes to go. Shopping, swimming or going on a picnic in the garden. Make a special Mother’s Day dinner or take mom out for a great meal in a famous restaurant she loves most.

Anyway ,let mom enjoy the whole day and feel your love, and then the Mother’s Day can be a good one. As Mother’s Day is around the corner, it’s time to take actions!

View on Job-hopping

People have different attitudes towards their work. Some prefer to stick to one occupation as their lifelong career. These people are of the opinion that one can never do his work well unless he is devoted to only one job in his lifetime. So if one changes his job frequently, he will not get the necessary experience needed in his work.

Others, on the other hand, like to change their jobs at times. In their opinion, people work in order to make more money. If they havea chance to get a better paid job, they will certainly try to get this chance. Besides, if a person does only one job all his life, he will certainly be bored with it.

My idea is that interest is the most important if one wants to excel others in his job. So if a person is not interested in his job, job hopping is normal and even necessary. Otherwise, he will suffer from his work, and inevitably, he is not likely to succeed in his career.

Careless and Careful

Careful and careless are as different as fire and water. But strangely, many scientists have both these qualities, that is, they are both careful and careless. Newton, the well known English scientist, is such a person.

Once Newton invited a friend to dinner at home. When they were ready to eat, Newton left to get a bottle of wine. But after his friend had waited for a long time, Newton still didn＇t come back. Finally his friend found Newton in his lab.

The reason was that when Newton was going to get the bottle of wine, he suddenly had a new idea for the experiment he was doing, so he completely forgot his friend and the dinner. There was another time when Newton was leading a horse up a mountain holding the rein in his hand.

Then one night, the suspicious-looking fellow happened to stop by for a drink. Hurrying over to him, the former guard said, "Listen, pal, drinks are on the house tonight if you''ll do me a favor: Just tell me what the hell you were smuggling all that time." Grinning broadly, the man leaned close to the bartender''s ear and whispered, "Cars."
