Your primary reason for list building is to sell some products or services to the people in your list. Not all of them will purchase from you, but chances are there will be some who will. But all the same it is worth to maintain the list you already have.
Here are few things you should keep in mind when you manage your existing list.
1. It's all about creating a relationship.
You must nurture the people who are in your list. You must befriend them and keep it that way. Try your best not to annoy or offend them because you know that it is very easy to unsubscribe from your list or even to simply mark you as a spammer on their email software.
2. It's all about keeping your promises.
If early on you promised them that you will only send out emails related to the niche or topic of your site, then you must keep that promise and don't ever send them unrelated emails. Because once you do, they will start to think and feel that you are deviating from your niche which got them interested in the first place. They will surely leave you when you do that.
3. Don't try to sell anything with every email that you send.
Remember that list building is about relationships? So this means that you must alternate your product offers every email or two that you send out. Otherwise people will think you only want to make money from them and not help them with the information that they want to learn from you.
